At VintageStride, our design process isn’t about copying old shoes—it’s about reviving the soul of retro style while solving the needs of the modern woman. We start by digging into fashion archives: flipping through 1950s women’s magazines for Mary Jane details, studying 1970s street style photos for platform sandal proportions, and even consulting vintage cobblers to understand how mid-century shoes balanced beauty and comfort.
But we never stop there: every “classic” style in our collection gets a subtle, purposeful update to fit 21st-century life. Take our best-selling 1960s-inspired Loafers, for example. We kept the iconic tassel vamp and slip-on ease that defined the era, but swapped stiff vintage leather for a flexible faux suede that bends with every step—perfect for rushing between meetings or running errands.
